OGX to MP3 converter
Convert an .ogx file to MP3 in your browser, no upload. Vorbis, Opus and FLAC inside all converted in our tests, a 3-minute file in 9 seconds. Speex does not.

What an OGX file is
.ogx is the extension RFC 5334 gives an Ogg file in general — Ogg being the container behind .ogg, .oga, .ogv and .opus files too. The extension says nothing about the sound inside: it can be Vorbis, Opus or FLAC, sometimes alongside Theora video. This page reads whichever it is and writes an MP3, 192 kbps unless you choose otherwise; a video track is skipped.
- Kept: the full length, the sample rate and the channel count — a mono voice recording stays mono.
- Your choice: bitrate, sample rate and mono are under "Show advanced options".

| OGX | Inside | Size | MP3 | Time |

| Music, 3 min | Vorbis, 44.1 kHz stereo | 3.1 MB | 4.1 MB | 9.4 s |

Every MP3 was as long as its OGX to within 0.04 seconds and decoded without errors. The test files were made with FFmpeg from the open-source film Big Buck Bunny. Measured on 29 October 2026 on this page in Chrome, on a laptop with an Intel Core i7-1165G7 and 16 GB of memory, from choosing the file to the download being ready.
Why a voice recording grows
Opus packs speech into very few bits, and MP3 needs many more. The 2-minute Opus recording above was 469 KB and became a 2.7 MB MP3 at the default 192 kbps. For speech, choose 96 kbps under "Show advanced options": two minutes then take about 1.4 MB, and a higher MP3 bitrate cannot bring back detail a 32 kbps original never had.
OGX files with Speex audio
An OGX holding Speex cannot be decoded here: the job stops with "The converter could not finish this file". The desktop FFmpeg converted the same test file with ffmpeg -i input.ogx -b:a 192k output.mp3.
What it does not do
- No Speex, as above.
- No video: a Theora video track is skipped, not converted.
- No files over 4 GB on a computer, or 512 MB on a phone, the limit the upload box shows.
OGX to MP3 FAQ
How do I convert OGX to MP3?
Open this page, add the .ogx file and download the MP3 when the row says Done. Nothing is installed and the file is not uploaded; in our tests a 3-minute file took 9 seconds and a 1-minute file under 2.
What is an OGX file?
An Ogg file under the general-purpose extension RFC 5334 assigns to Ogg. The sound inside is usually Vorbis, Opus or FLAC, all of which this page reads.
Why is my MP3 bigger than the OGX?
Because the OGX held compact audio — Opus voice at 32 kbps, for example — and MP3 at the default 192 kbps uses six times as many bits. Choose 96 kbps under "Show advanced options" for speech.
Why did my OGX fail?
Most likely its sound is Speex, which this converter cannot decode. The desktop FFmpeg converts it: ffmpeg -i input.ogx -b:a 192k output.mp3.
What happens to video in an OGX?
It is skipped. Only the sound is decoded and written as MP3; a 1-minute OGX with Theora video and Vorbis sound gave a 1.4 MB MP3 in 1.8 seconds.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs inside this page with a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg; open your browser's network panel while it runs and no request carries the file.
