About Convertube
In short
Convertube is a free file converter that works inside your web browser. PDFs, video, audio and images are converted on your own device by code the page downloads — your files are never uploaded to a server, and there is no account, no watermark and no daily limit.
1. Why it works this way
Most online converters upload your file to their server, convert it there and send the result back. That means someone else’s computer holds your document, even if only for a while. Browsers can now run the conversion engines themselves — ffmpeg for video and audio, PDF libraries, image codecs and a text-recognition model — so the upload step is no longer needed. Convertube is built around removing it.
It is also why the site is free: when the work happens on your device, there is no server bill per file for us to pass on. The site is paid for by the ads shown on its pages.
2. What it can and cannot do
It converts between the common video, audio, image and document formats listed on the site, and edits PDF pages — merge, split, compress, rotate, number, watermark and sign them. Scanned PDFs are read by an AI text-recognition model that also runs on your device.
Some things a browser cannot do well. Word, Excel and PowerPoint files cannot be turned into PDF here, because rendering them faithfully needs a desktop office suite, and very large files are limited by your device’s memory. Each page says what it does and does not do before you choose a file.
3. How to reach us
Questions, bug reports and suggestions go to the address below. If a conversion failed, the technical details shown under the failed file are the most useful thing to include — and take anything private out of a file before sending it.
